Old Beginnings
Nearing the end now, we are thinking about beginnings. More specifically, we are thinking about origins and stories thereof. Though origin stories purport to be about the past, their main purpose is to offer ways of framing the present. Each retelling is a claim about the teller's (and, indeed, the listener's) connection to the figures of the story. And, as we are all about framing things and examining connections here, it seems appropriate that we dig into a few such stories. Gather round, as we retell some old beginnings, via whatever avenues the city provides.
