Rusty Belt Loops
Though they were not all as big as the factories that supported the towns of the canonical rust belt, they still played their part to hold up the pants, as it were, of the communities around them. And now they are mostly rust and dust.
Well, hrmm, that's kind of a strained metaphor.
You see, it's a simple idea for a bike ride - visiting the sites of several former manufacturing plants and looping around them - and perhaps on a different night, we would elaborate upon this further, right here, in this space that you are looking at right now. But less than an hour before we leave the donut shop, well, you'll understand if we keep things brief, yes? Maybe the best thing to do here would be repurpose the gesture we use all too often on the bike ride when talking about things that are no more or may never be: the outstretched arm pointing toward empty space, saying "imagine, if you will, all the words that might have been..."
