Passage #369: 14 September 2016
On Some Faraway Beach
Ah, the beach. The flat horizon gives us the sense that just about anything could be out there (or within ourselves) just waiting to be discovered. The waves wash up, then recede, each time leaving the terrain beneath them slightly altered, an endless cycle of renewal. It is a physical manifestation of all that is permanent and all that is impermanent.
More than a place, the beach is a state of mind in which, even without the endless potential of the flat horizon or the soothing rhythm of the waves, we achieve a certain kind of freedom. We find it where we can. We find it where we are. This is the beach we will explore tonight.
